Our Tattoo Process

“Tattooing is more than just the end result—it’s the whole experience. My goal is for you to feel comfortable, heard, and confident in the process, and to leave with something that not only looks good now, but holds up over time.”

Designing a Custom Tattoo with Josh Maierle in Bozeman, Montana

“I put a lot of care into the process—how you’re treated in the studio, how the design comes together, how it feels on the day. My goal is simple: you walk out with something you’re proud of, and an experience that felt right the whole way through.”

Questions about the Tattoo Process

What should I bring to my tattoo appointment?

Bring your tattoo references (photos, sketches, colors or black ink inspiration), a clear idea of placement and size, and any notes about what matters to you. If you've got pdrawings or a moodboard, bring those too. We'll work together from there.

How long does design take?

Design time depends on complexity and detail. Simple pieces move faster. Detailed work takes longer because we're building something meant to age well. You'll see drafts and have time to refine.

Can I reschedule my appointment?

Yes. Life happens. Let me know as soon as you can, and we'll find another time that works. Deposits hold your spot and transfer to your new date.

What's the healing process like?

Keep it clean and dry for the first few days. Wash gently with unscented soap, pat dry, and apply a thin layer of fragrance-free lotion. Avoid soaking, swimming, and direct sunlight for at least two weeks.

How do I prepare for my Tattoo session?

Eat a good meal beforehand. Stay hydrated. Get enough sleep the night before. Wear comfortable clothing that lets us access the area easily. Avoid alcohol and heavy caffeine before your appointment.
